Noh Reimagined is an international curatorial platform founded by Akiko Yanagisawa of Mu Arts, exploring how Noh theatre can inspire as a living art form within contemporary global culture today.
Through international collaborations and new commissions, the project examines how Noh’s unique approach to time, voice, silence, and ritual can generate new meanings today.
Since its inception, Noh Reimagined has presented noh masterpieces performed by top class noh performers, commissioned 17 new works, created through collaborations across music, dance, visual arts, and neuroscience. More than 50 UK-based artists from diverse disciplines have participated, with live performances and events attended by over 13,500 people, alongside 1,000+ participants in workshops and learning programmes.
The project has been delivered in London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, Tokyo, and at the Aldeburgh Festival.
